Gosh, I can only imagine having to tell your child after coming back from a hospital that they're not going to have a sibling. I thought at the beginning this was going to be a women's fic novel, but seeing that it's a picture book meant it will go a long way in breaking so much unwritten taboo around talking about it to kids.
The title does sound like it could be along the lines of The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett! But, yeah, super sad topic and a much needed addition to picture books options for families going through what Shannon endured.
